I spent my days in a way that I couldn’t experience in Japan while being exposed to different cultures every day for 3 months, and I learned a lot from it. There are a few points that I was able to grow from that learning.
First, while I was learning four English skills in class, there were a lot of words, phrases and grammar that I didn’t understand. In order to acquire what I have learned, I learned that using it in my daily life is the best way to learn. In addition, I was surprised by the cross-cultural differences in each country while broadeningmy horizons and thinking about problems and solutions such as sdgs and six-dimensional models on a global scale. Then, in the activity, it was a very valuable time because I couldn’t experience it myself if I had spent time in Japan, such as decorating pumpkins on Halloween and going to see hockey, a famous Canadian sport.
Second, in daily life, thanks to the host family taking me to various events such as birthday parties and bingo parties, I had the opportunity to talk to many people of different origins and nationalities. Even though it was the first time we met, they talked to me as if they were friends. I was shy, but I was able to grow up to be able to talk casually and happily with people I met for the first time. By talking without being shy, I improved my communication skills and learned various values.
Finally , I acquired the autonomy to speak on my own and learned that it is important to use the grammar and words I learned in my daily life .
